Liz Lira, known as the “Rose of Salsa,” is a salsa dancer based of LA with over 20 national and international dance championshop titles. She is known for combining her years of experience in ballet and jazz with salsa and Latin dance.
Liz Lira, originally from La Paz, Bolivia, entered the Los Angeles salsa scene at the age of 21, where her elegant yet dynamic style quickly earned her recognition as one of Southern California’s top female dancers. She captured her first major title at the Mayan World Salsa Championships in 2002 and has since amassed nine World Championships and 15 National Championships in salsa and Latin dance. Her career has taken her to stages worldwide, including performances in Bolivia, South Korea, Spain, Italy, and Japan, among others.
Liz’s expertise extends beyond performing; she has choreographed for television and film, including Dancing With the Stars (Seasons 8 and 9), So You Think You Can Dance (Seasons 7–9), and the feature film The Ugly Truth. She has also appeared as a principal dancer in Marc Anthony’s “Valió la Pena” music video and the SKYDANCE European Tour.
Today, Liz Lira continues to perform, teach, and judge international dance competitions. Renowned for her exceptional skills and vibrant personality, she remains a celebrated figure in the world of salsa and Latin dance.
