Salsa Social
Every Sunday
About this event
Salsa By The Sea is a free, weekly outdoor salsa dance event held on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. The event runs all year long (except when it rains) and the start time depends on the season (later in the summer, earlier in the winter). Some weekends are “Bachata by the Sea”, with more bachata music played than salsa. Occasionally there will be lessons as well, but mostly the event is for social dancing.

Important: Event times are subject to change. Always double check with the event organizer before making plans.

Editorial Review
Salsa by the Sea is one of the most unique and fun salsa dancing events in the Bay Area. The event takes place every Sunday (weather permitting) on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, right at the end of the Boardwalk.
The exact start and end times vary depending on the season, but the event usually begins in the late afternoon. Social dancing goes until sunset. There will occasionally be performances and lessons as well.
Salsa by the Sea is one of my favorite events to go to during the summer months, soaking in the summer sun and ocean breeze, and enjoying social dancing. Dancing on wooden planks of the Wharf can be tricky, so this isn't the event if you want to do a dozen spins, but it's a great for hanging out and having a good time.
There are a lot of great restaurants nearby as well, if you want to grab a bite or a drink, and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk is also just a few minutes walk away. This is a fun and casual social for dancers of all levels.
