Salsa With Carolyn

Event Type: Beginning & Intermediate Salsa Lesson
Date: Every Sunday
Description: Salsa lessons with World Salsa Champion Carolyn Barreno at Metronome Dance in San Francisco. Beginner lesson on Sunday begins at 3pm (30 minutes), followed by an Open Level technique/shines class at 3:30pm (30 minutes) and an Intermediate partnering lesson at 4pm (60 minutes). Open lesson is recommended for dancers of all levels. Intermediate lesson is recommended for dancers with 6+ months of salsa experience. Lessons are provided on a “Day Pass” payment format: pay for only 1 class per Sunday, dance as many as you can. Drop-ins welcome. No partner needed. Discounts available when purchasing a package.

Salsa Festival Fillmore

iLoveMambo Adolfo Weekender

Date: Saturday, Sept 30th & Sunday, Oct 1st
Description: A weekend-long dance workshop and social with the world-renowned Adolfo Indacochea from Italy hosted by iHeartMambo. 4 hours of workshops on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, followed by dancing in the evening. Space for the workshops is limited, see the event website for prices & availability. The social on Saturday is at the Abada Studio in the Mission, with dancing and performances from 9pm-2am and the dancing on Sunday is at the Women's Building in SF, with dance lessons from 7pm-8pm followed by dancing until 11pm.

San Jose Jazz Summer Fest

Description: The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest (formerly known as the “San Jose Jazz Festival”) is the largest outdoor music festival in San Jose. Held every year in downtown San Jose by the Plaza de Cesar Chavez, the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest is a massive music event that spans multiple city blocks, and features musicians from around the world playing a wide variety of genres including Jazz, Swing, Blues, and Salsa. The salsa dancing takes place at the Salsa Stage, and is one of the largest outdoor salsa dancing events of the year. The music spans the gamut of salsa genres from Latin Jazz to Salsa Dura and Cuban Salsa. This year’s lineup of salsa musicians include: Avance, Visión Latina, La Mixta Criolla, Jesus Diaz y su QBA, Pirulo y La Tribe, Danilo y Orquesta Universal, La Máquina Insular, Ricky’s Villanueva Show, and the Bay Area Salsa All Stars.

San Francisco Salsa Congress 2015

Description: A four-day salsa extravaganza held in the Marriott Hotel in downtown Oakland. The SF Salsa Congress features four days of workshops, performances, competitions, live music, and more, with dancing until 4am in the morning every night. This year is the 14-year anniversary of the SF Salsa Congress, and the event will likely be the largest ever, with an expected attendance of thousands of dancers from around the world. The Congress will feature live music from top salsa musicians including Fruko y Sus Tesos as well as performances and workshops by top dancers including Griselle Ponce and Yamulee! This is one salsa event that is not to be missed!
