This was the second time for this event in Orinda, it failed at Just Dance and was not renewed at Allegro Ballroom as I was told so now Tomaj is trying to promote salsa in the suburbs. It was not well attended compared to all the other Sat night venues including Allegros, 550 Barneveld and of course Cocomos. There were mostly beginners, not nearly enough leaders and not enough parking in the lot or on very steep hill. It was hot but not sweltering like the prior time. The free food and beverages compensate some for the steep $20 cover at the door. Not $15 as stated on this website. I left and was at Allegros by midnight. What a huge difference. It was packed, great vibe, live band, great dancers, enough leaders and a bachata and kizomba room and huge ballroom with mixed recorded ballroom dancing. I danced until atleast 2am.
Next time I go to Allegros! I didn’t go there because I got an email stating the event was cancelled. Later I found out that it was probably sent by Tomaj to sabotage his competition, Allegros, for whom he had the email list from when he held his event there until his contract was not renewed. If true, shame on Tomaj for trying to destroy our already decreasing salsa dance venues. I cannot readily support such a selfish promoter.

Read the review from Debby, and I don’t know where she went, but it wasn’t the party I was at last night! Great band, lots of dancers at a variety of levels, people out to have a good time, and that was what was provided. Be there or be square!
