The World Salsa Summit is an international salsa and Latin dance competition organized by Billy Fajardo and held every year at the Deauville Beach Resort in Miami.
This year the competition runs from Thursday, February 4th to Sunday, February 8th, and dozens of competitors from the Bay Area are flying out to compete at the event. Salsa By The Bay will be in Miami to provide live coverage of the event as well as live competition results.

Day 3 Results
Day 3 of the Summit featured the final rounds of the most anticipated divisions: Pro Salsa On1, Pro Salsa On2, Same Gender, Pro Salsa Teams, and Pro Salsa Cabaret.
In the same gender division, Mario Acosta & Dioney da Silva of Canada won the division with an amazing partner routine that would give John & Andrew a run for their money.
In the “Big 3” divisions (on1, on2, & cabaret) the results were pretty much a mirror of the World Latin Dance Cup just two months ago. Deklan & Natalia won the On1 division, Simone & Serena won the On2 division, and Karen & Ricardo won the cabaret division. Jefferson & Adrianita perhaps had a shot at challenging the Ricardo & Karen dynasty, but made a mistake on one of their major tricks (an unfortunate pattern for them), bumping them down to 3rd place.
In the small teams division, Baila Conmigo, who took 2nd AND 3rd place at the Latin Cup, won the title. And in the large teams, the crowd favorites The New York Movement won the title, followed closely by Alma Latina of Mexico.
See the World Salsa Summit website for the full competition results. You can also find videos of all the competitions on the World Salsa Summit YouTube page.

Day 2 Results
Day 2 of the World Salsa Summit featured dozens of divisions, including amateur salsa showcases, pro am salsa showcases, and a number of professional divisions.
The male solo salsa showcase was hotly contested with over 20 competitors from around the world, including some amazing talent from Puerto Rico. Mario Acosta, who also won the division at the WLDC, won the division with a routine that showcased his incredible technique and showmanship.
In the On1 division, Deklan Guzman & Natalia Villanueva (who were also the winners of the division at the WLDC) led the pack, with 10 couples moving onto the finals.
In the salsa cabaret division, Karen Forcano & Ricardo Vega, the reigning world champs, easily moved onto the finals, with the Colombian stars Jefferson Benjumea & Adrianita Avila not far behind, setting up for an exciting finals.
And in the bachata cabaret division, Javier Campines & Erica Reyna of LA beat out a tough field of competitors to take home the trophy.
From the Bay Area, Couture Dance Alliance competed in the Pro Am Salsa Teams division, against 13 other teams, and took 2nd place, narrowly losing to Alma Latina Dance Company fro Mexico.
Day 1 Results
Day 1 of the competition kicked off with a number of pro-am showcases as well as rising stars competitions and preliminary rounds for the professional On2 division.
The On2 division featured some stiff competition, with 10 couples moving onto the finals on Saturday. Simone Sanfilippo & Serena Maso, who won the division at last year’s World Latin Dance Cup led the pack, followed closely by Yasbek Cervantes & Diana Ramirez of Mexico and Elvis Collado & Brianna Rios of New York.
From the Bay Area, there were a number of competitors who took home trophies. Max Shpungin & Amanda Arenas took 2nd place in the Rising Stars On 2 Salsa Showcase, and Chad Tenturier & Maria Latushko placed second in the Rising Stars just salsa heats.
